Helping young people develop good parenting skills is now rightly seen as an important part of overall social development and preparation for adult life. This CD Rom utilises a game format that almost everybody knows and uses it to present realistic parenting problems and dilemmas in an engaging way.
As well as the basic rules of the game, 'Parenting Snakes and Ladders' involves lots of sound effects, music, speech, colour, interactivity and a generous dose of humour as well! To go up the ladders and avoid the snakes players have to choose the best option for dealing with a range of parenting problems.
Each problem has three choices and players can choose from five age groups from baby to teenager. The game has 75 parenting dilemmas, 75 health and development questions and over 40 general discussion themes. All text is spoken as well as appearing on screen. 'Parenting Snakes and Ladders' aims to be co-operative rather than competitive so players have to pool their knowledge and skills to reach the top.
